Donating your time to a cause you are passionate about can be very rewarding, but it is often difficult to find the time. When life gets busy, it’s easy to push the thought of volunteering out of your mind.
Many local not-for-profit organizations rely on volunteers to provide guidance and assistance with day-to-day operations. The Kawartha Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is no exception. With a small staff, the Chamber relies on the expertise and dedication of many volunteers.
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, when we recognize those who give their valuable time to a cause they believe in. The Kawartha Chamber has over 30 active volunteers. Many are small business owners and community leaders.
To our volunteers – we sincerely thank you for your dedication, expertise, and valuable presence throughout the year.
There is no doubt that volunteers are essential for not-for-profit organizations – but what’s in it for you, the one giving up your time?
Enhance Your Professional Development: Engage with other volunteers and business professionals who are sharing their expertise. Learn from the organization you are volunteering with, you might pick up a new skill!
Meet New People: Being a volunteer gives you the opportunity to make valuable contacts in your community and make lasting connections for years to come.
Share Your Expertise: As a professional, provide advice and guidance in your field of expertise – give tips on marketing, event planning, human resources etc.
Make a Difference: Choose an organization that you are passionate about. Watching a cause that you believe in achieve success will make the hard work well worth it.
Volunteering doesn’t have to be a burden and one more thing on your ‘to do’ list. Assist wherever you can – you will provide an organization with a valuable asset to help achieve their mission.
