My 8 year old is constantly talking about slime, can we make some. So I decided that it would be a great activity to do over March Break. So I of course hop onto Pinterest and search for slime recipes and after a quick shopping trip we were off to the slime making races.
• White Washable Glue – we used Elmer’s (we bought a big jug at Walmart)
• Foaming Shaving Cream – unscented. (We went to the Dollar Store for this and it wasn’t completely scent free, kids hands smelled a little but wasn’t a huge deal)
• Baking Soda
• Food Coloring
• Saline Solution (needs to contains both sodium borate and boric acid as ingredients)
• Bowl, Spoon, Measuring Cups and Spoons
Measure 3-4 heaping cups of shaving cream into a bowl.
Add color! We went with blue, but next batch we plan on making an extra big batch for multiple colours
Next, add a 1/2 cup of glue to the shaving cream and mix.
Add 1/2 tsp of baking soda and mix.
Add 1 tablespoon of the saline solution to the mixture & start whipping!
Once you get the mixture thoroughly whipped and incorporated, you can pull it out with your hands!
If you find it is too sticky add some more saline solution.
We saved the slime for a few days in the bowl covered with saran wrap and we were amazed at the different consistency’s it took.
