When your Mom voice is so loud that even the neighbours brush their teeth and get dressed, you know it is time to r-e-l-a-x, unwind and get into a nautical state of mind. B-r-e-a-t-h-e and put the “OM” in Mom.
“Om” is an important part of the word Mom as in yoga, it reflects the cosmological belief that the sound “Om” is associated with the creation of the universe and is the essence of life. In other words, “Mom.” Your Mom is a truly amazing woman, and we think it’s no coincidence that upside down, MOM spells WOW.
At Happy Days, it is quite often Mom who books the houseboat because she’s the one who knows everyone’s schedule. The conversation typically flows towards how busy life is with school, work, extracurricular activities and friends. The struggle is real. We all know that families who play together stay together, and mothers are the glue that hold everything together. Even when you can’t see them they’re still holding the family together.
Spending time together on board a houseboat this Mother’s Day and exploring your own aquatic backyard will make Mom’s heart sing. Full training is provided, so the Captain and Crew will gain a full understanding of how to operate the boat and work together as a crew. An operator license that is in accordance with Transport Canada requirements is issued upon proof of driver competency. Driving Instructors will spend as much time with you as you need, so that you feel comfortable and competent on the water. And because Mom always puts the safety of her family first, and even loses sleep over it sometimes, she’ll be happy to know that all required safety equipment is on board.
Each houseboat features all the comforts of home and the fully equipped galley has everything you need to keep cooking with cheese. (pun intended!)
Between Lock 32 in Bobcaygeon and Lock 31 in Buckhorn there is over 250 km of shoreline to explore right in the heart of cottage country. Vibrant small communities, secluded islands, wildlife, and hiking in a natural wonderland appeals to the outdoor adventurer. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy mini-putt, golf and fishing. As our photogenic leader would say, “Fisher-people” will be happy as Walleye season opens on Mother’s Day weekend. A perfect way to spoil Mom further is to take her out for dinner or hire a chef, visit the spa or give her a memorable piece of art from one of the many art galleries that are accessible by boat. Of course hugs and kisses go a long way too, as today’s little moments become tomorrow’s memories.
What should you bring with you? Your Mom jeans, of course, and your favourite grapes. Remember to bring good old fashioned board games and a deck of cards. If your family is anything like ours, you may want to leave the Monopoly at home.
Family is the anchor that holds us through life’s storms and time spent together on board with Happy Days Houseboats is time well spent. Happy Mothers Day Moms!
