Shows coming up at downtown Lindsay’s historic Academy Theatre offer plenty of choice, including a series of intimate concerts in our casual second floor lounge, two offerings of theatrical fare (a farce and a Broadway musical), a superb trio (backed by a trio of instrumentalists) performing anything from pop to jazz to stage musical numbers, plus some great tribute shows. Monthly TIFF screenings continue, too.
Our Upstairs Series concerts run every other Thursday beginning June 14 when Red, White and Ace will provide their lively harmonies and guitar playing. Future acts include Peterborough’s Rick & Gailie Trio, Nicole Lisa Craig (formerly Nicole Coward), Randy Read & Bob May, Kim Doolittle Duo and Hannah Lucas-Brouwer. We only seat 50 people in these events, so get your tickets early!
On July 7 we’re thrilled to present Broadsway – featuring a brilliant combination of fabulous voices, clever arrangements, excellent music, and side-splitting humour. Heather Bambrick (JUNO-nominee; National Jazz Award Vocalist of the Year), Diane Leah (Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee), and Julie Michels (international artist) combine their respective musical experience and influences in a show that is eclectic, funny, and very musical!
For theatre buffs, we’re welcoming back Lindsay Little Theatre with their production of the madcap British farce See How They Run July 20th and 21st. In August, Triple Threat Theatre is back to present the ever-popular Broadway show Annie.
Tribute shows will honour the music of Elton John, U2, Motown, Led Zeppelin, Eagles and Jon Bon Jovi.
